Employees seem stuck up a bit. Guess in a country like this, working for the government is some kind of privilege. I'm not sure if the new station will ever finish getting constructed, nor do I believe they need a new building at all seeing the way they do their business.

My comment is not related to the station but to the Train company (ONCF) because I don't know where else to post it.
If you travel from Casablanca to Tangier bare in mind that the train will stop for at least 20 mins between "Mghogha station" and "Tanger ville" station. They do not tell you but it always happens. There is a crossed railway and your train has to stop and wait for the other one to leave Tangier.

The current building is temporary, but Ticket machines have attendants (why?) , accept only Moroccan payment cards (why?) and when you pay with banknotes give back only coins, lot of coins :-D So better have close to exact cash amount, not big notes :-)

Given that the station is still under construction, but the masses of cobwebs on the lamps and already cracked marble floor indicate it's been that way for a while. Frankly, judging by the state of the rest of downtown Tanger, it'll likely remain that way for some time.

That aside, the station is fairly clean, ticketing is easy, and there's even a small cafe in the central lobby serving food. The biggest issue here is that there is just so little seating available that with the amount of trains and bus connections handled through here, you'll likely be standing for some time if you're waiting any longer than 10 minutes. This means standing in a very dusty station while plaster and more dust rain down on you from the ongoing construction. I recommend finding a cafe nearby, or hanging out in the mall attached to the Hilton if you plan to wait it out.

Beautiful place under construction. Short walk from the beach. I recommend catching the overnight train to Marrakesh from Tangier.

Nice train station. Still under reconstruction a bit as of Jan 2017. So nowhere to sit almost.

Make sure you have dirhams. This station does not take credit cards and often the ATM in the mall across the street does not have currency. The station is a relatively stately structure and is clean. But offers minimal amenities.

Currently under construction and being upgraded, so that is a factor. That said, they don't accept credit cards and the existing facility is a little lackluster and cramped.
