Not allowed to enter the church to pray. Was asked to pay! The man at the entrance was impolite and agressive saying "no money no honey"my 50 euros Xmas donation stayed in my pocket, definitly unchristian behavior...
This Church is famous for the presence of the simbols of four religions: Christian, Muslim, Induism, Jewish. The Cemetery is a little world of silence in the heart of crowded Grand Socco.
Beautiful peaceful location in middle of Tangier's old town and souq's general hustle & bustle.
This church does not welcome visitors. There is no info about opening hours or mass schedule. Don't waste your time or energy to walk up the hill. I wish there is a rating for negative star.
We were not allowed to visit the Service however we are Christian and came to the Service. The guy who did not let us in started shouting very aggressively (!) when we made ONE Step left from the path because there is PRIVATE territory. Not even 3 meters from the church: Very Private Territory. And they are complaying about reducing donations...what a surprise
St. Andrew's Church and its adjacent cemetery together have been a haven of worship, prayers, peace and tranquility in Tangier for over 100 years.
It now is one of the few Christian houses of worship in the city, and it has a loyal following of expatriate residents among its congregation, along with tourists and visitors passing through.
The surrounding gardens are attractive and among the tombstones in the cemetery are the graves of prominent former residents of Tangier.
This is a beautiful and tranquil church. It is quite close to the 'socco' and on Thurs days & Sundays there is a fresh fruit&veg market outside here. The gardens are well maintained & you will find a lot of famous people buried here from decades ago once you have a tour. Inside is visually stunning also, very much a mosque than a church but you must see for yourself to understand what i mean.
A very calm and tranquil experience. Intrigued by the graves (immaculately maintained) several R.A.F. personnel. How did St. Andrews become their last resting place.
