Tasty and cheap food, very friendly staff. The best restaurant in Morocco we met. It is also very atmospheric place with very funny name. Definitely recommended!

Ray Charlie is a no-frills, greasy spoon, fast-food hole-in-the-wall restaurant that has half a dozen high stools at a counter facing the a machine that cooks rotisserie chickens: the only thing I would ever risk eating at this dive. It has been open for over 30 years.
Some reviewers have written that Ray Charly has the best rotisserie chicken in Tangier, but I really find that difficult to believe.
In any major city in a European country or in Canada or the United States, Ray Charly would probably not remain open for further business since its health department would have ordered the place closed until it was thoroughly cleaned.
Nevertheless, there are lots of locals and some tourists who have taken to going native, who eat here and claim that it is marvelous and say the rotisserie chicken and sandwiches are good.
Personally, I would not risk eating here. You may find occasional cats lurking around your backless high stool looking for scraps of leftover food and bread crumbs.
There is no "inside" here, nor is there any real view since you sit facing the inside. While some local residents and tourists do eat here, I would not risk possibly getting sick.
There are many other cleaner and more attractive sandwich shops with excellent rotisserie chicken in Tangier, so why risk possibly coming down with a health problem by eating at this hole-in-the-wall?

A greasy hole in the wall, and I mean that in the best way. The food is delicious and the prices are a bargain. Grab a stool and order the chicken plate - you won't find a better dinner for 25 dirham.

This is a hole-in-the-wall, fast-food, no-frills, greasy spoon dump, that has half a dozen chairs at a counter facing the machine that cooks rotisserie chickens: the only thing I would ever risk eating at this dive. I can easily imagine cockroaches crawing on the floor, walls and perhaps even the eating counter.
In any other city, Ray Charly would probably not remain open for further business since its health department would have ordered the place closed until it was cleaned. I do not think here any of the dishes are washed in hot soapy water, hence another description of this place would be your ultimate greasy spoon.
There is no "inside" here, and while local residents may occasionally go to eat here for a cheap chicken, or a basic sandwich and French fries, as a tourist I certainly would not risk possibly contacting diarrhea, bacteria or food poisoning.
There are many other sandwich shops with rotisserie chicken in Tangier so don't risk coming down with a health problem by eating at Ray Charly.
Do expect stray cats to be lingering around your stool. In the winter you are exposed to the elements. Ray Charly is across from the Cafe Tingis at the Petit Socco.response / report this review -
