What a brilliant bunch of people. Experienced approachable and encouraging surf coaches, friendly, helpful staff at the riad, helpful yoga instructor. It's not surprising they have so much repeat business (maybe half the guests there had returned after previous happy holidays).
I didn't realise until the first yoga class how unfit and unbalanced I had become over the last 5 years. I'm an overweight 51 year old and it's a testament to the excellent support that on day 4 of surf training I stood on the board on the water. I didn't push it and the fabulous team allowed me to go at my pace always encouraging and supporting. A special thank you to Hamza for his respect and patience. Other trainees, of course, progressed far more quickly than I and were supported by other excellent coaches. Tariq set up Mirage Surf after many years learning in other surf centres. He is an inspirational surfer and looks after his guests very well. Ellen is a beautiful, gentle and caring person working behind the scenes answering all our questions online.
The Riad is just that: a traditional home shaped guest house. is not The Ritz but it has comfortable beds in comfortable rooms; basic, functional, pleasant and colourful. A range of surf schools book rooms at this Riad. From my observation I'd recommend Mirage as Tariq seems a better host. An unfortunate mix up over rooms was sorted out with many apologies.
Delicious, healthy food on the beach, at the Riad and in a couple of restaurants too.
Fascinating culture. Interesting village with a few useful shops/small 'supermarkets' and coffee shops including a vegan place.
Beautiful weather: hot and sunny in the day but cold overnight.
A definite 5* experience with kind and friendly people.
Mirage is perfect for combining holidays and surfing. In addition to super surf spots are also excursions and yoga. The hotel is very clean and has super friendly staff. The food is also delicious. I can only recommend Mirage.
