Du délire. 1 semaine pour avoir un visa au lieu d'une journée, les gens se battent pour rentrer, ils donnent rendez-vous un jour où c'est fermé car férié, personnel super désagréable et raciste
Bref, occupez-vous du visa avant de partir en passant par un organisme ad hoc

The visa application must be submitted before 11 a.m. and will be ready around 15 p.m. Sometimes in the next morning when it’s really busy. On Friday they are open til noon. Make sure you have two recent passport photos. Around the corner, is a supermarket with a photo booth. If you do not speak French, use the help of Habib. He is a Mauritanian ‘fixer’ who is assisting foreigners at the embassy site. He is helpful and reliable. Give him something for his services, it’s his full-time job.

Update 26/02/16: From now on no more paper visa. Only biometric at the cost of 1450 dirham.

It is very tricky to get a visa for mauretania. At the time of writing, one has to queue (there was a paper queue, as an initiative of the first to come) as early as at 6 morning, complete a form, add 2 pics and passport photocopy, be lucky to get through queue and be accepted from 9-11h morning. Guys arround the place will help you with the form, or if you are illeterate, but woyl accept a couple of dirgams.
At last you get visa the next working day arround 14h. Be sure to triple check each info they give you, as they tend to forget about their own rules, working hours and national work-free holidays.
Also, they say, women queue seoaratelly and are served early.

Be sure, its africa, things change according to mood, weather and money.
