A must see sight. Done by an art teacher in 1930-1, contrary to popular belief and stories that it was carved by a legionaire or war prisoner. Done in the honor of the last Atlas lion killed by a French soldier in the mid 1920s. All tourists, young or old, come to take a selfie. It is always crowded. Be patient and wait your turn.

I think it's more of a tourist places for those that never see snow, is a quaint place were rich people live with little cafes and tourist taking photos with Mikey mouse, but it's not really worth driving hours for. I think the best part is seeing the little monkeys along the roadside that you can so and feed if you want, sooooo cute

As tourist attractions go, its really not worth visiting. But Ifrane itself is quite scenic and worth coming to for a day trip from Fes

Ifran is a very unique place in Morocco
the city build like a alpine city' a lot of sky places so all the city looks like European place
It was carved by a German soldier during WORLD WIDE 2, when Ifrane was used briefly as a prisoner-of-war camp.
a lot of people trying to make photo with the lion it is something of a ritual for Moroccan day
all the area in nice with European style, parks to seat and enjoy the place, restaurants and cafe

Traveling through the Valleys of Morocco I came across these village that reminded me of the Alps in Germany. Indeed, you would not think that you are in Morocco. It is located over 5,000 feet above the Sea Level in the Middle Atlas region. I mean the Atlas Mountains are a treat and this village is like icing on top of the cake. It has flowers, plazas, cafes, restaurants and hotels. I saw this village not in the heaviest of winter but near spring and the flowers are blooming. This is the place where wealthy Moroccan’s come for vacations. You would notice that people dress very fashionable. It is also a place where students come and work and play. Enjoy this village. There are hotels where you can stay overnight.
So that you know, the French built this village so that the colonial powers could go an relax from the heataround 1929. Now, all people can at least visit and enjoy - life is indeed good in Morocco - see me? Walking and walking!

There are always a lot of people around it, so I could neither take a picture of it, nor take a photo with it.
The same scenario happened for me 3 times in a row, in all my visits to Ifrane I always find a large crowd around it.
