In 2016, I had two surgeries at the Clinique Assalam by two different doctors and each time stayed overnight. There were no problems, and aside from the antiquated appearance, lack of air-conditioning, old elevator and mediocre food, in general this is regarded as one of the best older clinics in Tangier.
There are excellent doctors at Clinique Assalam and I would definitely recommend it to anyone for surgery. The staff speak mainly French and Arabic, but some have limited English and Spanish.
It would be an improvement if this clinic would upgrade its reception area and add more comfortable seats to its waiting areas. The WiFi connections are often very weak or do not reliably work.
There was some traffic noise from the road outside and inside pounding noises when I was there as renovations were being done on the floor above my room.
ADDENDUM: In late-July 2017 I visited the Clinique Assalam to take a friend for surgery and an overnight stay, and I noted that the reception area and most of the rooms have now been painted.
Further improvements that I suggest for the entire hospital would be to get a strong WORKING WIFI signal throughout the entire hospital from top floor down to the reception area, add a new passenger elevator (otherwise you must walk up and down a winding stairway when visiting a patient), working air-conditioning, and add some comfortable cushioned seats in the front and back waiting areas.
My friend who had the surgery was satisfied with his surgery and overnight stay, and the semi-private room had been painted and his bed was comfortable and could be raised or lowered automatically with the touch of a button.
