  Construction works started in early 1980's by a Bulgarian company. This hospital is considered the third largest in Libya and the newest. Was officially opened in 2000 but after an idle period of 10 years. Therefore, many facilities rusted and went out of order. In general, it is a nice facility, but the medical specialized staff is so poor due to the lack of well trained doctors and nurses. It works by the locals' determination to make it work, otherwise, it would have been abandoned years ago.
