If you are visiting Ghadames, (in better circumstances I completely recommend) take one end of the afternoon to go watch the sun set in the dunes. It is a great experience!
These dunes are the eastern limit of the Grand Erg Oriental Sand Sea, that extends mostly through Algeria, covering a portion of the western Tunisia border, with this small "peninsula" entering Libya.
