Even though the restaurant was full, the service took a reasonable time, the waiters were nice and so was the food. I am writring about this specific Tokyo restaurant; and not the other ones. For example the other Tokyo restaurant in the centre was not nearly as nice as the firstly mentioned.
On its own this place is pretty good. Sushi there tastes good. And service is quiet fast. But when compared to other food places nearby it could be better. It is also often cowded.
I just arrived to Riga and wanted to eat some nice food. But when we entered to the restaurant the service staff just ignored us. They looked right into our eyes, no greeting, no nothing. But obviously they all saw us! And one waitress was just standing there doing nothing, leaning to the counter. I am an manger in a restaurant, I know what busy time means and I know how tiring it can be. But it is not hard to say "One moment please" . After some time we just left. I will not recommend this place to anyone.
Whatever you are up to - tasty breakfast, lunch or dinner, this place has it all. I eat at Tokyo City often, as it has variety of foods and drinks (non-alcoholic and alcoholic). It also has lunch offer. But my favorite of all the foods - warm rolls (especially Manchester with bacon), and I suggest everyone tries them at least once here. Previously they offered 1+1 portion, totaling 16 sushi, but now you can choose and pay different prices. Waiting time might be longer at busy times, therefore I suggest you take good friends and patience with you. Service might not be the best always, you won't be seated sometimes, but I go there for food, not for the service. Sometimes I order it just for a takeaway and eat at home. Overall, I recommend!
I would say that it's the best place if you want to have some sushi in Riga.
It's extremely crowded Fridays and Saturdays. Try to book a table before going there during these two days. And it will take pretty long time to get your order during these days too.
Highly recommend it for sushi lovers and you also get double for the price of one. So go there with empty stomach.
Hope you enjoy your meal at Tokyo
I was super hungry when I arrived at the restaurant and was seated right away, but the waiting times between each interaction were WAY too long. I know I was hungry, but waiting 15 minutes to have someone take your order (who didn’t understand the allergen list on their own menu), 20 minutes for the starter miso soup, another 15 minutes for the next starter and another 10 minutes for the sushi. In the end, I waited another 15 minutes to pay and actually went up to the front. I had to stand there again for too long for someone to give me my change back. The table next to me experienced the same.
I was going to order more sushi after receiving the first round in case I was still hungry, but after waiting so long I decided to hell with it, I’m going somewhere else. And I did.
Nice place where eat Western sushi. It is not the real sushi but it is good and suitable for western people. There are thousands of different sushis as well as other dishes from other kitchens (italian, ceck,..). The service is not super fast but the environment is welconing and it is not an issue to wait some moment more.
First off, the meal took 45 minutes to get to us. 4 of us were eating and the 4 meals came out within 15 minutes of each other. The sushi was ok but both pizzas were disgustingly greasy and tasted horrible. We asked a waiter to speak with the manager. He came 20 minutes later and told us it was too long after we ordered and we should have asked for him straight away which we did. He then said a refund was out of the question but he could get me a pizza to go. Such shocking service on his part. We had to wait another 20 minutes for the pizza to come out. I took the pizza home and of course, it was just as bad as the first. The service was absolutely terrible as was the food. I would avoid this branch of Tokyo City, the others in Riga were of a much higher standard.
Cool place to eat. We took some pancakes, fresh orange juice and omelet for breakfast. Attention during the night because there's less people in the kitchen, and they can expend more time to serve. That's because I didn't put 5 starts.
Best sushi ever! Absolute must to visit if you are in Riga and looking for something good to eat. The place is popular so you might wait a while but trust me, it is worth it. The prices are good, sizes of portions are great, staff is skilled just go to Tokyo City and embrace the heaven on Earth.
I liked this place itself. The variety of dishes surprised me. The sushi were lovely. I ordered the white fish (the cod) with prawns, unfortunately, it didn't look near as on the menu card though. The fish was frozen, although a waitress admitted that it was not fresh fish. So, I was a bit disappointed of cost for that dish, but the discount of total bill was offered as a good gesture. So, it was appreciated. Dessert was nice and well presented. Waiting time was not so bad. I would visit this place again but just for ordering either sushi or desert. Would rate 5 stars, but the main meal
I've been loyal to that place while living in Riga. Best affordable sushi in town! Plus the menu gives you a wide range of meal options according to your cravings. Cozy place for eating out with friends or alone. Friendly staff and fast serving. Also great cocktails and good offers for groups. The sushi desert is to die for!!
Good price, grate and tasty food, nice stuff, loved it, i will come back to this place!
Quite good but can be long wait time
Great food, great atmosphere and great service. All for a good price
cheap and good sushi, but not fast service
I have no problem with the restaurant itself. The food is good and waiters are polite and work fast, but they need to have a serious talk with there hostess. I understand that it's Saturday night and there's a lot of people, but when you sit down a group of 8 (we were 6 and came first and we're waiting for 40min) first then I just can't leave a good review. Otherwise I recommend this place, just make reservations.
