Using it quite extensively. Overall clean and efficient, staff is polite but not very friendly- people don't smile often in Latvia Food extremely overpriced, recently they opened few more cafes - at least appears there are more options to eat. Quality so - so.

Overall a decent small airport. Nothing special about it so no good way to kill time between flights. The lack of restaurants is very disappointing! I also couldn't see a children play area. The WiFi didn't work but it may be due to my computer.

Passport control is a shambles. Come on guys, you’ve only got one job to do there - you would think checking passports all day, every day, there would be an opportunity to get quite good at it, given how much practice can be had. But, no. Queue has hardly moved for an hour and the staff are moving about as fast as the queue. Clearly work efficiency in passport control at RIX has yet to emerge from the soviet era. On the upside, when I finally was able to show someone my documents, they were quite friendly but let’s face it, you can’t polish a turd. I would gladly accept rude soviet customer service if the whole process just worked faster.

I've been to RIX many times. Always positive experience! Great layout for a small airport. Security checks are quick and efficient. Multilingual staff members are always available and extremely friendly. They took extra security measures to search me, but it was done professionally and with courtesy.

It can get better. A small but friendly airport. Quite expensive.

Never announce about flight delay and don't give any information. People just keep standing in the queue and wondering what's going on. Staff does nothing and behaves like they don't care at all.

Small Airport. Stuff is friendly but everything does take a lot of time. Securitycheck in slowmotion.

The STAFF at the airport is extremely rude and unprofessional. Have visited loads of different countries, however never came across such a disguisting airport staff. I have accidentally entered the business class check in area where the woman looked more like a prison officer rather than someone who is suitable to work at the airport while demostrating kind and helpful approach. She literally treated me like a criminal! Once entered other parts I have noticed that its all the same-They are staring at you with awful facial expressions!!!This reminded me a conception from a movie called Stanford Prison experiment, where ordinary people given power lose the understanding of who they acctually are lol. However, I believe that uneducated, unintelligent and ignorant people should not work at places such as airports as the majority of passangers have a fear of flying etc and require some level of emphaty. Management of the airport should definitely improve the behaviour of the staff. I am definitely choosing Palanga or Kaunas airport next time.

Very modern and clean airport. Shops are a little expensive like on every airport. Even if it's a small airport you can find enough comfortable seats.

Some people working at the airport are rude. They treat you like you are stupid and like they don't want you to be there. I'm talking about the passport control people and about one person working at the luggage storage room (I have never seen such rudeness before at an airport- a place that is supposed to be filled with workers who are service minded). It does not matter where you come from, I'm from sweden and I almost look native to their country but they treat you like that either way, it seems like they just dislike foreigners.

Spotlessly clean and friendly staff. Very modern and compact yet offers plenty of connections. Wifi is fast. Some restaurants are massively overpriced though.

Small yet clean and beautiful airport. The immigration agents are dry but this is our experience of almost all countries anyways. The airport is very cozy and spacious at the same time.

It's. Just. Weird. Long layovers would be a nightmare. Ghost pizza shop is still haunting me. No hot food option. Shopping seems decent. On a plus side you can buy felt slippers from a vending machine.

This is the 'chicken panini' from Caffe Napoli. Try to find the chicken.

When I politely asked the staff if it was a mistake, she got very aggressive and said 'there is some chicken on it, we didn't tell you how many milligrams. Do you want to tell us how to cook it?'

And she told me to stop smiling! She said 'Latvian and Russian people have never complained'.

    Horrible experience.

Mixed feelings. We went to Riga for a short city trip. Arrival at Riga airport was no problem; luggage handling went very quick so we were satisfied with the service. Unfortunately the departure one week later was a horrible experience. After our in time arrival at the airport the electronic check-in devices did not work properly. The staff helped some passengers and refused to help some others in a completely arbitrary manner. We were sent back to the enormous waiting row for normal check-in. Time became short but the staff assured us there would be no problem to catch our flight in due time. For the control of documents before entering security checkpoint only 1 (one) lane was open for the big crowd. And the rows became longer and longer. We asked information to staff members who seemed to be totally uninformed job students not able to deal with the problems. 10 minutes after the start of the boarding of our flight we (and a lot of other travelers) decided to switch through the priority lane: first we were allowed then a staff member tried to send us back in a rude and impolite manner which we refused to do (one older women in front of us already started crying). The lady who already refused to help us before even had the courage to laugh us in the face while passing by. The checking of documents went very inefficiently, also in the priority lane. We managed to get through 10 minutes before departure time made a run at the gate and were lucky enough to catch our flight to Brussels just in time. I understand that in a small airport handling a big crowd of departing passengers is a challenge but I'm convinced that here a more better handling would not only have been adequate but also possible with a more efficient organisation and a more professional attitude of some staff members. Worst experience ever in an international airport.

    THE NIGHT I INVADED LATVIA
I missed my connecting flight to Oslo from Dusseldorf on Riga Air. I was to spend my entire night in the Airport until the next morning when my flight was to depart. At about 2 am, I became hungry and there are no snack bars open in this airport after midnight or 1 am. So i looked around and I couldn't find anyone to see about getting through customs so I could get a cab into town. So I went to a door and I pushed it, I walked through an area that had baggage scanners, then the elevator down to the lower level.and out into the street. I WALKED INTO LATVIA. I got a cab and had the best pizza of my life, then I went back to the airport and slept until my next flight arrived.

I have never been to a country that you can just walk into.
