The "Green Jewel" also known as the "Emerald Forest", was dug up in the 1960's, within a woodland, that once held sand and stones quarries.
The digging produced an attractive small lake and the pit itself was closed in beginning of the eighties. The place soon attracted day-trippers and swimmers, who were mainly interested in recreation at the waterside. Therefore the local government bought the place and built a small playground and a golf course on it. In the 1980’s, the place featured small-scale facilities, with wooden cottages as
the first accommodation around the lake.
Eventually in the end of 1980’s the place was purchased by two investors. The park and all of its facilities became property of the family Bergman, through the company Bergman Ltd. who turned it into a marvelous traveler's site.
Just after buying the ground the owner (Frank Bergman) decided to call it “Emerald Forest”. The name was chosen because of the nature surrounding the lake and the fantastic colors of the numerous trees in autumn.
Founded in 1980's Emerald Forest has been one of the largest tourist attraction facilities in the nearby.
The place has been well known for its bold nature and splendid recreational values.
Since 2012 “Emerald Forest” is now known as the GreenJewel
