Good food at good prices. Small. Easy to miss as no obvious signage on street

Garšīgi. Super popular place with locals but they do have an English menu available for those who come experience its nostalgic Soviet interiors. I have never tasted barley and mushroom slow baked to perfection - I imagine it's an old Latvian grandmas recipe baked with love.

Large bar with a wide selection of drinks and foods for a good price. The garden inside is great during summers.

Nice place, good selection of beers and wines. Sitting outside is nice. Staff are good and friendly. Didn't try food but looked nice and portions seemed ok.

I remember small Gauja place on Tērbatas street, that always recalled me of a typical soviet grandma's apartment. Howeverfew days ago I finally tried out their moving spot on Stabu street. The soviet concept is still rocking hard but in a much spacious way. They have a pretty backyard where enjoy the visit in a good weather. Quite OK selection of food. For me and my friends it reminded us of latvian countryside cuisine. Portions were in a good amount and tasty. Some decent choices of draft beer. Service was good and the staff was kind.

Since 2006 this has been one of my regular local hangout. Beer, fun and frolics! Now they have a kitchen, larger space and outside terrace in their new location. Well worth a visit for the business lunch, beer or the beer and the beer. Great staff, nice mix of regular locals and some strange oddities that come out of the woodwork when the moon shines. They have DJs on weekends and possibly the nicest toilet floor tiles for a drinking hole in Riga. Bicycle parking a plus.

First incarnation on Tērbatas street was cozy, small and full of Soviet artefacts. The second, more spacious version, unfortunately, lacks character. There is little memorabilia; the main bartender looks perpetually worn-out and thus she isn't friendly (asking the manager didn't help); and some of the beer I've had there seemed soured. A bit of a gamble.

Great atmosphere, mid century modern Soviet feel with reasonably priced cocktails, beer or coffee beverages. Great music, comfy place to hang out. Could've spent hours just relaxing. A must see place in Riga.
