  The owner cannot be trusted and tries forcing you.
  
  I booked an appartment for two nights on Airbnb. As she uses the "instant book" option, it was automatically accepted. Then she said that the appartment was not available on the second night because somebody already booked it on another website (why does she use the "instant book" option then???).
  
  Then she said that I can stay at least for the first night, and that I have to look for another appartment for the second night. Unbelievable! I refused. She proposed that she looks for another appartment for the second night, but it was important for me to stay the two nights in the same appartment. Why ? I don't need to lose time changing appartments, my trip is difficult to organise and I would come back very late on the second night... it would be too difficult and stressful.
  
  The rules are clear: if you cannot provide the appartment somebody booked, you have to cancel the reservation if he asks for it! But she refused: she repeated several times that I could stay in another appartment for the second night (do not try to tell her that it's not possible for you, I tried it several times but she doesn't listen).
  
  She also says that she doesn't know how to cancel a reservation on Airbnb. It's a lie: just check her profile page and you will notice that she has done it several times! The actual reason is: if she cancels too many reservations, some penalties will be applied (according to the Airbnb rules). So she hopes that you cancel the reservation by yourself (but then YOU risk penalties) to avoid penalties.
  
  I also read that some people booked an appartment and she gave them another appartment because the booked appartment was already booked by somebody else.
  
  Last but not least: when she first told us that the appartment was already booked, I saw on Airbnb that she had another appartment that was available. I said that we could used this one. Then she said that it was also already booked by somebody else. Several days later, the appartment was still available on Airbnb. She hopes that you book, so she can force you to stay a part of your stay in another appartment.
  
  Having my money back is very difficult.
  
  EDIT : as everybody can read, in the owner's answer she doesn't even talk about the four problems I pointed out :
  1) She uses the "instant book" option while people can book from another website (the problem is not your daughter and that you could not use the internet, the problem is : do NOT use the 'instant book' option if people can book from another websites !!)
  2) I needed to spend the two nights in the SAME appartment but she ignored that several times and tried to force me to spend the two nights in different appartments.
  3) She refused to cancel the reservation while she could not provide the appartments I asked (according to Airbnb rules she must cancel).
  4) She lied by pretending she didn't know how to cancel but she did it several times in the past.
