Come there for a nice picnic on a sunny day. The view is amazing, and the village is really interesting. It is easy to come by bus from Vilnius (2,90 €, 1hour).

Lovely place close to Vilnius. The walking trails are nicely maintained, with reasonably safe steps allowing visitors to climb to the tops of the former castle mounds. Unfortunately, none of the old castles remain, only their mounds, which offer a fantastic view of the surroundings and river valley. Definitely worth a visit just as a site in itself, but it's even better to time your visit to coincide with a festival, such as the Live Archeology Days or a solstice celebration, etc.

The one of the most beautiful places in Lithuania! Unique and historic. Unesco world heritage. Must see! Archeologic museum of Kernave also worth seeing! Concentrated and informative modern exibitions, takes a 1,5 to 2 hours to see.

It's beautiful for an afternoon walk, with the family, kids, dogs. There is quite a bit of walking to do and many steep steps to climb just bear that in mind. There is a small café and also a mini grocery store between the museum and the church.

One of most beautiful places around Vilnius, and very historical heart of Lithuania - the very first Capital of Lithuania (XIII c). Also quite mythological place, and the valley of Pajauta is named after Mythical daughter of a mythical king. Today only mounds are seen, but the panorama is unforgettable.

Kernave was a medieval capital of Grand Duchy of Lithuania. So its historically rich place and with nice archeological museum. Also its a beautiful place to visit especially during spring and summer when everything around is in green vibrating colour. You can take a walk between hills, go down to the bank of river Neris, make picnic and enjoy the calm and peaceful place.
