Quaint next to the river kind of place to lose youself in a book!
Very peaceful and quiet place. Staff very friendly
Lovely area and friendly hosts and staff, but the matresses are totally worn out.
Stayed there back in the 1990's it was basic but amazing, caught trout in the river that runs through the grounds and chef cooked them Cleanest tasting fish ever. Chocolate porridge for breakfast on a bitterly cold morning was different!!
Would I go back, absolutely and put up with any deficiencies as it must still be worth it
This place has charm. No need for WiFi, A great get away location if you want to get away. Lots of activities. 10/10 would recommend to anyone
Very basic, but the location is beautiful
Great location adjacent to the famous Malibamatso River. Oxbow is one of the coldest places in Lesotho and its worse in Winter where temperatures get below zero decrees celcius. It is closer to AfriSki resort than Botha Bothe and Clarens
No wifi. No souvenir store. Heater didn't work at first. Cold water in shower didnt work. Couldn't start a fire in the bar. Smoked us out.
Really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms are neat. Nice river running thru the lodge.
Staff are friendly and quite accommodating.
Food was good.
Very close to AfriSki resort.
Lots of hot water which is welcome with the cold mountain weather.
The best place to stay to if you want to be close to all the action, being skiing, fishing or an array of other adventure sports. Oxbow has good food, fresh bedding and everything else you'd need for a great stay in Lesotho - bring a jacket if it is winter time, otherwise you could freeze you bum off.
Simple clean place to stay for a few nights
We were a group of eight friends that visit your camping site in May 2017 and was not impressed at all. One side of the ablution block were not working. The geyser was not working, the toilet wet the floor when flushing and at the back of the building water was standing that was smelling bad. The braai place also needs attention please.
Writing on behalf of my parents who spend a few nights there in April 2017: We would definitely recommend anyone to go there, the service was great, the staff was very friendly(especially the kitchen staff) and the food was absolutely lovely. The rooms are cosy and comfortable and very clean. We will definitely spend time at Oxbow Lodge again!
Nice place for breakfast & diner. Room is ok but our shower needed some improvement. Friendly atmosphere and staff taking care of customers.
Heaters were not working and the rooms are damp and freezing. But the food was good.
I arrived by bicycle from Buthe Buthe. A long hard uphill day in the driving rain. I was so incredibly happy to find the Oxbow Lodge. It is set in an idyllic location by a river and waterfall. They provide a nice, friendly ambiance with a common room and bar where guests can get to know each other. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They had good hot water. I enjoyed dinner and breakfast. Room, dinner and breakfast was 620 Rand for a single. They can take cards.
They had a few hours of electricity in the evening via generator and once again in the morning. I did get Vodacom Lesotho signal.
The following night I stayed at Afriski Resort up the hill. Overall, I really preferred the low key friendly atmosphere at Oxbow over the much larger and impersonal Afriski (although Afriski is nice, too).
Also, Oxbow is at 2500 meters compared to 3000 at Afriski in case you are suffering from altitude. I didn't have this problem, but some people might consider that.
I have been to Oxbow 3 times before this trip and this time around I was not impressed. The place has lost its charm since the owner passed on. I got an impression that they are trying saving costs at the expense of my comfort. Their power saving policy is inconsistent, some days they cut power at 11pm and others 10pm with no warning.
Website still advertises a drink with owner and there was no owner on site for 2 nights. No variety when it came to dinner, lamp chops the one night and lamp cutlets the following night.
Been there years ago. Would love to go again. Lovely in winter with snow all around. Place to be if you love mountains.
Yo! It looks very nice n i wish to come over for a visi,
