First thing is that the name of the shop is spelled wrongly. The name is Blidi's and it is a provision shop for the community.

This shop was one of the very few shops open in the area catering to the needs of community dwellers.

During the evening hours and holidays, an older group of friends and neighbors gather around to play cards (66 or whiz) or sometimes checkers. This long time habit of gathering for this purpose of playing cards sprouted from an older group called "Audi-29" another card playing club of which my father, Thomas S. Blidi, Sr. is a founding member.

It is obvious that when old friends meet, there are still some old habits. The beer comes in handy another means of keeping the evening.

66 and whiz is what is played, sometimes checkers.
