This was quite possibly the best hostel I've stayed at. My friends and I were treated like family, and were able to play with the house dogs! There are exceptional home cooked meals, a view point cabin about 50 meters away, and lovely hikes just up the road, perfect for watching the sunrise. Furthermore, it's extremely close to a waterfall, the Little Adam's Peak Hike, downtown Ella, the Estate near Ella, and many local spots. I would probably come back to Ella just to stay at this place-- missing our hosts already!

The 1964 boutique hostel! remember this name as this is the one best hostel in Ella! Prices are cheap and reasonable, I have stayed with my friend for 2days and honestly I am so happy we found this place. I will start from check in at 8’o clock but still we are early to hostel they didn’t kept us waiting till 8 quickly they make arrangements and gave washroom to refresh all with help of very nice, friendly and professional owner who have great as at the entrance. We felt special from the beginning to the end. Beautiful house with coffee and tea as welcome in morning course they know what locals love free WiFi with a fancy password- all freesurly can make you feel like you home.
The room was lovely, super clean with most comfortable bed I have ever slept on for that excellent price. and OMG love they pillows!!!:))) bathroom with hot water shower very clean and good smell.
The people who working there was very helpful in directing us to main location in ella with easy route, so we have great day out as well. After we came back - we found out that on the table in hall there are water with bottles so you can take them to the room! also guest request lockers - if we run out of tea, coffee of milk in the room! Its really like they thought of everything to please your stay! We tried food was awesome they are expect in local and international cuisine what ever you want they are ready to make for you. And also they have great options like if you buy the main ingredient they will make for you. We had pasta with sausages and for breakfast bread with yum curry and pol sambol. happy with our stay that acually was sad to leave! The owner of the hostel and a guy who is working there was verry sweet and friendly. Overall I had best stay ever in Ella!!! and definitely will back there and will recomend this peace of heaven in Ella but far from town in a clam place! Thank you so much for your great hospitality!!!! ❤️

Staff are excellent and cook lovely food at a really good price. Tuktuk's are expensive in Ella but staff here provide a tuktuk service into town at a great rate. They can also organise motorbike hire, delivered to the hostel.The views from the area are amazing and they are currently constructing a terrace viewpoint which we took advantage of both eveningsthe view is amazinghighly recommend

A nice quiet place. Clean and staff are really nice and helpful. The foods good here too. The only downside is its 4km outside of Ella, but it does make it a peaceful place with cool views of the mountains!

Excellent home-cooked meals there. Dinners are definitely worth it at 500Rs per person with 5-6 bowls of different food, breakfast at 450Rs is ok with an omelette, toast and fresh fruit. Wonderful and accommodating hosts. The only drawback is it's about 6km from Ella centre, so you're at the mercy of a bus with an unpredictable schedule that stops running at 18:30. Only shared bathroom/shower for the 4 rooms they have.

Das Guesthouse ist etwas ausserhalb von Ella, mit dem Bus für 20LKR sehr gut erreichbar. Es ist sauber, sehr einheimisch und für jemand der nicht auf Massentourismus steht, genau das richtige!
Die Gastgeber konnten nicht besser sein, sie haben uns Plätze gezeigt, die in keinem Reiseführer stehen und somit den Aufenthalt noch spezieller gemacht. Herzlichkeit und familiäre Athmosphäre von der ersten Sekunde bis zur Letzten. Ich würde jedem der wirklich ins Leben einer einheimischen Familie eintauchen will, diesen Platz empfehlen. Danke für die tolle Zeit!

A simple, but lovely place to stay, even though it is a few kilometers from Ella city centre. We stayed 4 days, had a wonderful time and the best service we could have imagined. We were shown beautiful hidden places, you will never find in a travel guide. A familiar atmosphere and great breakfast and dinner of homegrown fruits and vegetables.
If you're looking for an unforgettable, unique and friendly stay without paying a fortune, we can definitely recommend the 1964 Boutique Hostel!
