The Royal Palace Park, also known as Wales Park, Wace Park or Rajawasala Park, is a small park on top a small hill in the heart of the city of Kandy, that overlooks Kandy Lake and most of the city. Established by King Sri Vikrama Rajasinha of Sri Lanka it was renamed as Wales Park in honor of the Prince of Wales by the British.
The hill, where the park is currently situated, was known as Castle Hill by the British, as it was the site of the palace of Konappu Bandara, who ruled as Vimaladharmasuriya I of Kandy from 1590 to 1604.
Herbert Wace, CMG (1851–1906), the Government Agent of the Central Province and acting Colonial Secretary, arranged for this neglected site to be restored, and a park be built there in 1880.
In the park is a Japanese field gun which was captured by the British 14th Army in Burma during World War II and presented to the City of Kandy by Lord Mountbatten, Supreme Allied Commander – South East Asia Theatre.
Nice garden, but completely in the hands of local couples. Felt a bit out of place walking around here.
Very calm place to stay freely. fresh air and calm environment. Clean and clear foot roads with fascinating natural resources. That was a garden owned by queen of Sri wicrama rajasinghe( the last king in Sri Lanka). well planned park with adequate space for walk. It has a big diversity of plants. Whenever you travel kandy, dont forget to go to the park. Enjoy the nature. Enjoy the beauty of Kandy city. Nice view. You can see complete kandy town from there. You better go in the evening and stay till lights on in the city to see the beauty of Kandy.

Nice place to visit. So many couples visit here.
Best place for couples, couples mind their own business.
The garden was nice, but the people running it were shady. They charge foreigners 100 rupees to enter the small park, which we didn't mind at all. However, after 20 minutes, the guard told us the park was closing so we had to leave; it would have been nice if they'd told us the park was closing soon when we arrived, but again, not a big deal. Then, an hour later, we walked by the park and saw guards sitting near the entrance, who said the park was in fact still open and asked if we wanted to enter – but we'd have to pay 200 rupees to enter this time. We felt scammed.
Good Place For Couples And Wedding Photography..
Beautiful park in Kandy City. Vicinity of Kandy lake and dalada maligawa.
Good and calm place for lovely cauples..not good for bring your childerns..under 18 cauples are resticted here..
Perfect place for lovers to spend some alone, quite time with thier beloveds.
Better to not take your kids there A good place for lovers though
Beautiful small park.. Worth for Rs.30/= ticket. But the problem is you will see lots of young couples everywhere. So i don't recommend you to go with your children. Its totally okay if you two are a couple. Go and have some fun on the top of Kandy city..
A haven for the courting couples of Kandy which detracted from the pleasant surroundings. 100 Rupees entrance for foreigners, didn't offer the good views that this former castle location I hoped would have.
Mosy lovers are being used for be relaxed

Good place for relaxing . Just walking distane from city
Nice & lovly park in herart of the city. But not suitable for kids & teenagers. 100% of the crowds are couples
A beautiful park || Being silent || A cool climate || Loving feelings when you enter..
Average park with breathtaking view of Sri Dalada Maligawa ( Temple of tooth relic)
Nice and peaceful (apart from a decorative cannon). There were quite a few couples making out or being affectionate so if you are sensitive to that kind of stuff you might want to avoid this place. However if you are looking for a place to make out with a special one you don't have to look any further. But it's in no way required and you can just chill or read a book or something too. There was also no one trying to sell you anything or trying to get their hands on your money which was really nice hour a change after being downtown, although you have to pay a 100 lkr entrance fee if you are a foreigner.
