The best girls school in sri lanka. Lot of facilities for extra curricular activities. A good place for girls to build up leadership qualities and mould successful carriers.

being a great school is not sufficient while entry is only restricted for rich personalswhile it is claiming as a buddhist school and rejecting applications of other nationalities it is providing admission to politicians kids without any boundariesex. min Rauf hakeems kidsalso this school is always checking family status and income in order to maintain their so called statusno entry for poor kidsso how it will be a great placegenerating good results in exams doesn't make a place great.. it should generate good values as well

This school began under the name of "Buddhist Girls' College" in a house called "The Firs" at Turret Road, Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was moved to its present premises at Vajira Road on the 21st of November 1927 and named "Visakha Vidyalaya" by Lady Herbert Stanley, the wife of the then Governor of Ceylon. From humble beginnings, Visakha Vidyalaya has risen to the position of the most sought after school for girls in Sri Lanka. Furthermore, it is the only girls' school identified amongst the first National Schools in the Island.
