Two stars as the "tourist attraction" guidebooks make it out to be - when you've looked around for five minutes and been in the way of buyers and sellers the whole time, you're done, really. This place makes sense only for bulk wholesale buyers and sellers of vegetables. Go back to the main road and walk North for five minutes, past the bus station, you'll find a lovely little market on the right.

Farmers will come from all over Sri Lanka to sell their fruit and vegetables here. Its a wholesale market but you can still buy individual produce of you are friendly enough to the sellers. It is laid out over 3 huge halls. An interesting curiosity, certainly worth a visit in the evening

This is not a retail market: farmers come here to sell to traders in bulk. Very animated. All Sri Lankan fruits and vegetables are represented (it is the biggest market in Sri Lanka). Worth 30 minutes of visit, more if you chat with locals.
