Brilliant eco system situation a very short distance from Kandy Town. Early morning visit guarantees a cornucopia of sights and sounds. In addition to the delightful birds sounds of the morning chorus you should see wild. Boar, you barking deer and plenty of herds of monkeys foraging the undergrowth. Be prepared to spend a relaxing two or more hours exploring the trails.

Great Place for short trip in the wilderness. This was the royal forest park for the king during the Kandyan era. Currently a forest sanctuary. There is an information center located inside the forest. There's a entrance fee that has to be paid at the gate. internal walkways are well marked and named.

Nice and peaceful. We paid 1325 rupees for 2 tickets. 4 stars as the lady on the gate was really slow and I'm pretty sure tickets should have been cheaper. Also don't bother with the hermit cave at the top of the park, there's nothing there. Same with the upper veiw point in the centre of the park, it's surrounded by trees so you can't see anything.

Beautiful forest with deers, snakes and monkeys only 15 min away from the lake. Full of big trees and plants. You can spend from one hour till a lot of hours wandering around watching the deers and the birds and having a good time.

The best place to get away from the busy town and into the deep dark woods to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature at its best!! Lovely to walk around and see animals roaming freely!! I saw a lot of monkeys and deers. Do visit this place if u come to Kandy.

Greatest day admiring the natural forest. We was able to plan a short trip there. Allowing our time to move in a positive way. While traveling deep part of the jungle we was able to see some animals on their natural habitat and many kinds of trees. There are some rock caves too

Udawatta Kele Sanctuary, often spelled as Udawattakele, is a historic forest reserve on a hill-ridge in the city of Kandy. It is 104 hectares (257 acres) large. During the days of the Kandyan Kingdom, Udawatta Kele was known as "උඩ වාසල වත්ත" in Sinhalese meaning "The Garden above the Royal Palace". at Kandy, Sri Lanka.

Such a nice place to be in the busy Kandy. Go there early morning where you can see the sun light coming through the trees. It will take at least like 4 hours to enjoy this place truly. Take your foot cycles to this place because they do allow you to ride it inside for some places. Parking available. Only cash payments are accepted for tickets.

Don't expect to see too many animals, but a good trip nonetheless. A lot of incredible fauna, the standout being a huge vine which stretches across 3 hectares. We met lots of other tourists along the way but there are enough small paths if you feel like some privacy. Lost a star due to it being quite pricey (Rs570 each). Watch out for leeches after the rain!

It's a good place if you want to walk among the trees.There's nothing much to see here.But if you like to walk then this an awesome place. There are several small trails inside the park and it want take much time to cover all the trails. If you are luckey, you might be able to see owls and wild bores.

An average place. Eventhough it is labelled as a forest reserve, it's a bit artificial in terms of plants spread. Bio diversity isn't the best. Concrete structures can be seen here and there. Wild boars, small types of deers anf monkeys are abundant. The soil seems to be bit eroded. Anyhow it's a quite realxing for a stroll. People in and around the forest reserve are friendly. So don't worry about security.

Nice for a good walk. We saw a lot of monkeys and some pigs. Use your Google maps if you want to find your way, the given map seems to change on every intersection..

It's a good contrast to the city but costs 650rp for tourists but 30rp for locals, the issue is you don't get anything for the money, the map is completely wrong, no signposts so we ended up going in circles 3 times and no conservation happening at all. If you want a walk in the forest and see some monkeys, it's okay

Nice place to visit and enjoy the sceneries
They have some number of wild animals. And it's really close to the city. Bungalows are quite well maintained.

Excellent for an afternoon stroll. About 700rs entrance fee, and make sure you approach from the West; on Google maps it looks like you can walk in from the east or south too, but we ended up wandering back into a built-up area and onto an army base, respectively.
