This is a great hotel. It is small and gets things pretty much spot on. Rooms are comfortable and modern and the food and drinks are great. The rooms downstairs have less light whilst the rooms upstairs open directly to the bar and restaurant. Not an issue as it's a quiet property so no noise problems. Staff are professional if not overtly friendly.

Taru villas is a lovely boutique property. The rooms are clean and nicely done. however the ground-floor rooms seem to be low on sunlight and hence can get dark and stuffy.

Our room was very nice and clean.
Be aware that a lot of the rooms are right next to the bar and restaurant area. We did not experience any inconvenience but I can imagine that this could be different when busy.
Nice food (on the expensive side).
The manager was very friendly and helpful, but some of the staff could have been a bit more friendly. When my wife ordered a long island ice tea, she got a judgemental reaction, which was uncalled for and a bit unpleasant for our last evening.response / report this review -

Truly a wonderful cool serene place to spend time. I'd heartily recommend to anyone. You MUST have the Sri Lankan breakfast. Best we'd tried.

Had a comfortable 2 night stay over New Years. Rooms are modern, clean and comfortable, the polish concrete floor keeps the room fresh. Restaurant food and service was great. Wifi good. Highly recommend

This hotel was our first stay in Sri Lanka. We arrived at around 5.30am and the staff were still on hand to check us in promptly. I had read good reviews about the hotel prior to booking however I was still pleasantly surprised. Rooms were extremely clean and staff were really friendly. We missed breakfast on the first day which we now regret because the breakfast is very nice. Me and my wife are strict vegetarians and they were more the happy to cater for us. The Hotel is not too far from anywhere in Colombo. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Spacious, modern rooms and in a convenient location. Delicious food from the restaurant, only let down by the eye watering prices (taxes and service charges are extra). Staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful.

This was our last hotel stay before our holiday ended. We received a warm welcome from the manager. Arriving at noon we were greeted with a delicious lime and mint ice pop.Though not a luxury hotel it is centrally located and peaceful. We were not provided with kettle & tea bags but on demand the staff provided us with cups & boiling water. We left early morning at 3 am from the hotel who took extra pains and provided us with packed breakfast. We would recommend this hotel for its location and hospitality.

Beautiful rooms. Cozy, peaceful and quiet. Staff very attentive but limited communications between themselves (i.e., you could get asked the same question a number of times by different staff member).

These apartments are in a great location, very comfortable, clean and all air conditioned. But the thing that makes this place stand out is the perfect customer service. All the staff are incredibly polite and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble even when we were late for breakfast. If you can, book the garden suit and also try the eggs florentine - exceptional.
