This is the biggest church in the island. The pope John Paul II had the official mass here, when he visited Sri Lanka 1996! A Catholic church started by a dutch priest!

Peace full place,though I don't worship at this cathedral I use to grace the church for weddings or just for a walk in the evening with my parents and friends.

Sacred place of Catholics. Claimed to be the biggest church in Sri Lanka. During festival times, very crowded and very popular among colombo living people. It's connections to St Anthony's church are historical.

Located in the old part of Colombo city this building is an imposing sight. From the angels guarding its car park entrance to the many iconic figures featured throughout its interior, this cathedral is impressive. It also featured one of the most ornate baptismal fonts that I have seen in churches of any denomination. Very quiet atmosphere inside the cathedral considering its location. Highly recommended.
