"Sri Pada" (සමනළ කන්ද) Peak Wilderness sanctuary is a tropical rain forest that spreads over a land of 224 square kilometers around the Sri Pada mountain. Peak of this historical mountain has the sacred footprint it was identified by Buddhists as the footprint of Load Buddha.

It's an amazing creation of Mother Nature, one of the highest mountains in Sri Lanka yet the iconic conical shape distinguishes it from the rest. The summit bears the Holy foot print of lord Buddha according to the chronicles imprint on a blue sapphire. The journey not easy but worth while as you reach the peak overlooking many parts of the island many attractive mountains, reservoirs above all the famous Sunrise the first rays of sun kisses the holy summit. As sun rises west side of the mountain appears the conical shadow of the sripada mountain on the misty air one miraculous scenery. Also the mountain is the most important water reserve where all major rivers begin in the Island and a world heritage wildlife sanctuary. The most important fact you should never left any kind of belongings of you except the footprints, today many people who visit the Sripada carelessly scatter polythene and plastic substances that totally destroy the beautiful environment while putting water sheds and wildlife in danger. So experience the beauty and holiness of the summit and left only footprints.
