We had an absolutely amazing holiday in Sri Lanka thanks to SLD tours and particularly thanks to our driver Janaka!
We had a rough idea of where we wanted to go and so prior to arriving, SLD helped us to refine our itinerary so that we could book in our hotels. The price for the whole trip was quoted in advance and this covered everything to do with the driver and car. In our opinion, it was well worth it and I wouldn't go around Sri Lanka another way. We even wanted to take the train for part of the journey so we were dropped at the train station and picked up a few hours later at the other end. It meant getting to enjoy the train journey without the pain of having our bags with us. We also had some slight changes to where we wanted to stop along the way and it was no problem at all.
Our driver Janaka made our trip around Sri Lanka so special and added so much to our experience. Through our various journeys around the country, he would explain to us the different things we saw in each region, from the types of trees there were, the agriculture in the region, what the people ate, the history of the region, the religions and any other interesting facts. It gave us a great insight into life for Sri Lankan people and made our experience much richer by travelling around with a Sri Lankan.
The roads in Sri Lanka were an interesting experience too, not being like what I am used to at all and I can imagine could be a little unnerving with some of the other drivers I saw on the road. But we always felt completely safe with Janaka, he was always calm and cautious on the road, but efficient in getting us to our next destination.

Excellent company. They outlined an itinerary for us which was very helpful and we changed as we went along as different things and places struck our fancy. All very easy to do.
Although I drive everywhere all over the world, I was advised not to drive myself in Sri Lanka and when I got there I knew it was good advice!!

We were lucky enough to have the loveliest and safest driver, Wije, with us for 6 days. Wije was helpful, knowledgable, calm, kind, a great driver and truly made our trip very special by having him collect us from the airport and drive us through Kandy, Ella, Haputale and all the way to the coast near Mirissa. He would call ahead to all our accommodation in advance and gave a 5 star concierge service as well as being an excellent driver. Thank you Wije for being so kind, you are a credit to the company and we will definitely be returning to Sri Lanka thanks to you for making our first holiday there so great!

Everything from start to the end was brilliant- Hasantha was patient and detailed when arranging the tour and clarifying the details. We had two drivers- Sunil, who drove us from the airport and Jay- who was our driver for 6 days. Sunil spoke perfect English and was super helpful and was very polite! We hope you recover soon after your accident! Our other driver Jay has become an invaluable part of the trip in our 5 nights/ 6 days tour around Sri Lanka. He was very professional, but also very friendly, knew a lot about Sri Lanka, and was very patient with us, when we became a little grumpy and “hangry” (sorry again :) )
Overall, we cannot recommend SDL enough. Definitely choose them for your travels around the beautiful country of Sri Lanka!response / report this review -

I couldn’t recommend Kushantha Kaluaggala more. We only booked two days before arriving at Colombo airport where he met us promptly with an immaculate car. He took us on a 2 week tour of Sri Lanka, was always punctual and polite, very knowledgeable, spoke good English and made the trip so special for us. He is an excellent driver and navigated the busy Sri Lankan roads beautifully. He had plenty of cultural spots to recommend and delicious restaurants hidden away however he was equally happy at letting us choose our destinations and even took us to a very remote safari park which was adventurous! I’d really recommend Kushantha to everyone, he is a gentleman chauffeur.
