Had the chance to visit this school spontaneous. When entered to Mission Road from Kotte Road, didn't expect such a nice school inside. This is a boys school. Many many buildings, I never expected the school will be that much big. Have lot of space to play for kids. Boundaying to a sub canal going to Diyawanna Lake. It was interval and may boys playing here and there. Very old Na Tree is there and it makes the school is historic. Shrining room also under the Na Tree. There was a big crocodile next to canal edge.
The Principal was very helpful and friendly, a senior officer from Army seems doing his job perfect. His office is well organized, clean and having grand looking and reflect the dutifulness of his career.
According to the vice principal, this school is the oldest school in Sri Lanka, started 195 year ago.
Other special thing about this school is, they have started experimental classroom for grade 7, first time in Sri Lanka, where all the studies are carried out through tabs and no books using in the classroom. The classroom teacher can monitor each kids' tab work through her tab and she has the control over all the kids' tabs. According to principal, it is very successful and kids are studying very well. They plan to continue this classroom up to advance level and further planning to do this for all the classrooms of grade 7 from next year
I wish government should give more attention and priority for such schools, having big potential with many resources already in hand that can use for school education where everybody rush to enter Colombo school, though this place also in the boundary of Colombo, but no attention and no highlighting.response / report this review -
