This is my school and i spent almost 14 years of my life here. The best place to teach your child the good morals and values. This school will teach your child to be a well refined lady in the future. It has all the facilities for the students to engage in sports like basketball, netball, football, cricket, badminton, squash, table tennis, athletics, gymnastics, swimming and many more. Indoor and outdoor sports training is there. About the teachers I won’t say they have the best teachers. In sri lanka since the education is driven mostly though private tutoring it won’t be a big issue i guess. At least the teachers maintain good discipline within the school and outside too. I won’t think twice to send my daughter to my school someday

Regardless of the management, It has a good culture. What i loved most is that the uniform is suitable for whether condition in Sri Lanka. (Not with ties and collars which normally wear in cold countries) And Assemblies are conducted without torturing students to stay standing in the sun unlike other schools.. and has a nice surrounding with lot of trees.

1st of January 1973, when our school was commenced as Stanmore Crescent Primary School with 5 teachers and 149 students under the guidance of Miss. Wimala Liyanage ,the Founder of our school. The school consisted of classes up to year 5. That was the beginning of our school. It was because of the utmost courage of Miss. Wimala Liyanage and the staff that Mr. B. Y Thudawe who was the Deputy Education Minister at that time saw the improvement of the creativity and knowledge attained by this small school was so much impressed that after 11 months of discussions it was Mr. Thudawe's idea to change the name of this school as a Honor of the Late World's First Women's Prime Minister, Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike.
The initial batches of Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya finished 5 years of Primary Education as the school was not in a position to provide secondary education. The school was able to commence classes up to year 13 and to have upgraded into National Level again due to the patronage of Miss.Liyanage, the Former principal.
From 1982 June Mrs. R.M.L Jayasekara took over office as the Second Principle of our school. Her period saw some of the finest years the school ever had. One of her first mission towards the development of our school was to ensure that every student who sat first time for the G.C.E O/L Examinations in 1984,got through it commencing their Higher Education. It was yet another milestone in the development of the school when 1985 the Ministry Education granted permission to teach all subjects including Mathematics and Science streams enabling the students sit G.C.E A/L Examination in those streams too.
A fully equipped Library was opened in 1982 with the fullest co-operation of the National Library Association.

It was a shortcoming that the students did not have a School Play Ground to get through their daily sports activities. With the help of Mr. S. Rupasinghe ( Secretary of school Welfare Association) , Mr. K.P Rupasinge (who was parent of school) and the great efforts of Mrs. Jayasekara students finally got the present playground.

It was a Historic moment when the Sirimavo Hokey team participated in the Asian Hockey Tournament in 1989 held for the first time to Malaysia. Since then sports teams of our school have participated and won both Local and International tournaments.

With the help of the Ministry of Education our school received some special features which was very much in need at the time such as, a fully equipped Home Science Room, Dental, fully equipped Science labs and a Computer Lab.

Mr.Jinadasa Guruge donated a building with a view to improve the aesthetic talents of the students.

1991, our school was recognized as a National School after 17 years of its birth. This was a historic occasion in the comparatively short but eventful history of our school which brought joy to all those concerned.

In 1992, Ranasinghe Premadasa who was also the then Minister of Education declared the open the Main Hall on the Prize Giving day.

The Social Services Association of our school made a tremendous effort with the co-operation of Miss. Wimala Liyanage to build the most precious Shrine room which can accommodate 50 students at a time.

The Cultural Recital was introduced to develop talents of creative art amongst the students.
