This hostel is amazing if you are looking for a truly local experience. It is next to the jungle where wild elephants roam (the owner runs safaris). It is also behind a beautiful buddhist temple with a huge statue. The place itself is unique because it has a roof that slopes on all sides to a hole in the middle. This has a pool in the middle and tree growing up out of it. It's a bit like a courtyard.
Around this square are the rooms, with bathrooms. Again, if you are a traveller that likes to have a local experience rather than spend it in western style hotels, then the simplicity of the place will not trouble you. The space is super clean, as you would expect from any Sri Lankan home or hostel.
The owner is one of the friendliest, interesting people you'll meet and he has a spot on understanding of tourists' tastes. He is a local and has the best knowledge of the area, and will recommend places or guide you (probably for a fee for the latter). He speaks English fluently and he has been a tour guide for a few years now. He cooks the most wonderful food and so do the guys at the restaurant he works at (Chill House, I think).
My friend and I spent a few days exploring here in Summer and it was a truly great experience.

Cette hôtel ressemble plus à un squate arrangé qu'un hôtel. Légèrement plus cher que les autres guesthouse du coin,le papa vous dépose dans cette endroit en chantier juste derrière le temple du grand bouddha de sirigilia (seul point positif). la wifi ne fonctionne pas . Coups de late dans le ventilateur pour le faire fonctionné . Literie dur. Une des porte du bâtiment ne peu pas être fermé à clef donc fermez bien votre chambre. Si il n'y a pas d'autre nigo comme vous, vous êtes seul, isolé dans cette maison en chantier. Le jeune propriétaire abuse donc de vous très gentiment (manquerai plus qu'il morde).
