We would like to note the terrific service provided by Priyantha on our rental of the Toyota Fortuna from Shineway just finished. Priyantha provided very helpful, courteous and professional service throughout our rental experience! We were also generally very pleased with the vehicle

The price for a van with a driver went from $93 down to $55 per day. The office manager Priyantha Kumara thinks he outsmarts everyone else, came with the driver to collect the cash upfront and told the driver to drop him back at their office, claimed it is on our way to our destination. Google maps showed otherwise, ended up dropping him in the middle of the road after he wasted an hour and half of our day on the road going the wrong way. He claimed that it was "his mistake". Aside from that, the driver was great and the van was ok.

Very pleased by the service provided by Shineway Travels, always flexible and adaptable to customers need. Special mention deserves the dedication of their agent Naufal, without his help, I wouldn't have been able to get the authorisation to drive in Sri Lanka by no means. Thank you for that!

Exceptional service and very friendly staff! FIVE STARS! It was our first time in Sri Lanka, and we were just amazed by the professionalism and hospitality of all the workers at Shineway-rent-a-car and especially Jaliya.
We were communicating via email before arrival and mr. Jaliya was super competent, carrying, fast with his replies and friendly with every response. He kindly asked in advance if we got driving permits from automobile association of Sri Lanka already which are required to drive here, and since we did not have them, he entirely took care of it. We just sent our international driving licenses, and by the time we arrived permits for both my husband and me were ready.
When we arrived we were welcomed and provided with all details right away, we just turned our heads and the car was already waiting for us at the front door, we made a quick inspection, got all the instructions about the car and insurance and were ready to go! WOW! Seriously, I have never rented a car that fast and stress-free anywhere I have traveled to. It took us just about five mins by the time we walked in the door to the time we were leaving with the car.
AND the car was GREAT; it was nice jeep RAV4 - just perfect for our trip! We had much of the driving and adventures planned, for six days we went from Colombo to Sigiriya Rock, then to Nine arches bridge, Yala and came back to Colombo. So it was essential to us to have a car we can rely on, and it did not disappoint. Since we were not used to Sri Lanka's driving system at the beginning, and it did get a bit intense for us, the sharp brakes and excellent stability of the car saved us many times from getting into an accident, I am not even kidding!
WE are very-very happy with all the experience and service! Thank you so much! We will recommend Shineway-rent-a-car to anyone visiting Sri Lanka. THANK YOU!response / report this review -

I was pissed off and they ruined my schedule . I have booked for an Aqua for 16 days, I have reserved 2 weeks ago, they have confirmed the availability of the car, they followed up wth me in few mails, and on the day of pick up morethan 6 time he talked to me and confirmed the car is ready and they are waiting for my arrival.
I have visited there eventhough it’s very far with my all baggages, there ware no Aqua and he started the stories bla bla. and he had an Alto so he wanted to make a deal wth me. Eventhough I was helpless, I have clearly expressed my disappointment, he didn’t care.
I strongly not to recommend this kind of un/ethical idiots, and advice not to give him a second chance to sustain and ruin the car rent industry.response / report this review -

Shineway Rent-a-car is the best in Colombo and surroundings! Don't even bother going to other places to find a vehicle for your need as these guys won't be beaten on price nor their service.
Great communication - I was dealing with Gajesh (via email), Mr Fernando or Jaliya (over the phone).
I had booked a Toyota Aqua for 5 days and I informed my friend to pick up the car on behalf of me as I was arriving late from Melbourne. These guys didn't make much fuss handing over the vehicle to my friend. They also suggested that they could deliver the car to the airport but I didn't take up the offer. On arrival, I was pleasantly surprised by a Prius instead for the same price :) The car was kept clean for our Lankan standards.
I was very pleased with their service, I was able to contact them with anything regarding the vehicle and they were very helpful.
Since then I rented a car for my father in law and these guys were very helpful in making the process very easy.
My only negative comment is - It would be better to hand the vehicle to the customer with a full tank of fuel and you can expect the same when the customer returns the vehicle - I don't think many/any car rentals in Lanka do this. Sometimes you arrive (if you're traveling from overseas) late or tired, the last thing you want to do is looking for a petrol station!

Friendly and polite staff, flexible and cheapest in terms of prices. Overall we had a pleasant experience with shineway services. Highly recommended if you are planning to rent a car in Sri Lanka.

We pre-booked a Hiace van to take us around the island for 12 days. It was described as a 2013 Van in good order with a good English speaking driver. It turned up and was a heap, with a driver with poor English. As we needed to get on our way, it was agreed with the owner of Shineway, that they would send a better van and driver the next day to complete the tour.
The van had broken a/c and had to stop to re-gas it, as we were melting in the heat, more wasted time. We could not open the sliding doors from the inside as they were both broken, the owner said it was a safety feature!
We paid 25% of the tour cost and called the next day to see where the replacement van was. The owner told us he was not sending a replacement as the first van was ok, but now not available. He basically left us stranded, with a bill for 25% of 12 days fees, and refused to refund anything. This is a shabby operation, AVOID!!response / report this review -

Rented a car in Shaynvey November 7 to 14 for a week. According to pre-order and remote registration of a driving permit. Excellent service is built, everything was checked in accurately and in time, the car is waiting for us in the company parking lot. The car itself is in good condition, never failed me during the trip. With the car I've received a map of maintenance, all other the documents were issued clearly and quickly without delay. The company's staff is attentive and focused on all possible assistance to the client. Thank you all in Shaynvey for the excellent service which made our autotravel in Sri-Lanka so comfortable and flawless it never would be so wonderful without the use of a personal vehicle. Great service for a reasonable price!
