Wonderful historical place. It seems original place where Devi Sita was taken to. A strategic place matches with intentions of Ravan, A thick forest all around, at a high altitude where no one can nighter find her out nor she can escape. Maintained nicely. Felt amazing. Worth visiting.

This is a place of mythological significance to all Hindus. This is the place was Sita Ji wife of Lord Ram was made captive guy the king of lanka, Ravana. The place has a foot step of Lord Hanuman. As per the tale, lord Hanuman stepped at this place for the first time when he landed at lanka to see sita Ji. The entry to the temple is free. The God idols are really very beautiful. The river flowing near the temple is called the sita River.

This is one of the oldest temple of Shri Ram in Newark Eliya, Sri Lanka.It is believed and told to us by the temple priest that the Original statues of Shri Ram, Shri Lakshman and Goddess Sita is 5000 years old. One can see the face of Hanuman Ji from the temple on the hill side. The big marks on the stones are believed to be the foot prints of Lord Hanuman.
This temple misses on the Legacy of Hindu temple as painting, colours and maintenance part is still what is feel is lacking currently. Next to this temple is so called Ashok Vatika where one can clearly see the difference in vegetation from the other hills around because as a believe this was brought by Lord Hanuman from North of India.

This is a famous Hindu temple in the area. Has some interesting sculptures and some interesting construction to look at. People here tried to sell some religious and cultural things such as small sculptures, which I though were too expensive. Has toilet facilities but no parking facilities. You can easily park by the road and visit here.
