Bus station that is not being maintained at all. Not sure how long this place will last without coming down to the ground.

This bus station is full of everything. Beggars, stray dogs, garbage, irrelevant posters You name it. Place is almost in ruins. Staff don't even mind i guess. Mud ponds i inside station is a common thing on rainy days. You can often see miles long queues for some destinations without a bus in the same time empty buses parked for other destinations. Clearly no management of the bus schedules. You cannot expect the bus schedule to be consistent. If you got into a bus on a particular time today, it is doubtful that it would be there tomorrow at the same time. Common case with SLTB buses. Time period to complete a trip to a private bus is too long. So they take around 40 minutes for a 15 minutes trip. Usually they are parked around 20 minutes in the bus station before starting the trip. So it is a good 60 minutes for a 15 minutes trip. Funny thing is if you are even on a slow train, it won't take 40 minutes from Colombo to panadura. No rest rooms. I don't wanna even talk about toilets

Place is not maintained well. Garbage is everywhere. Need renovation. This bus station provides bus services for more than 50 destinations across country. Few of them are Horana, Bandaragama, Rathnapura, Anguruwathota, Badulla, Bandarawela, Katawatta, Mahiyanganaya, Kandy, Sooriyawewa, Ampara, Kurunegala, Theldeniya, Monaragala, Kataragama, Rukgaha, Kiriberiya, Hirana, Malamulla, Pettah, Nugegoda, Kalutara, Matara, etc

Need renovation, the buildings are old and spaceless. Causes lot of traffic jam to the nearby road since the busses are not managed by anyone.

Despite how it looks, this place is a starting point for quite a few long distance routes. Including one that goes to Kandy via Piliyandala (255/17). The staff aren't that knowledgeable but would help you out if possible. The place is falling apart in places but the people working there doesn't seem to do much about that or the time keepers booth. For example they put a new timetable for long distance routes right next the old version of the same and didn't bother to remove the old one. Asking them what time the bus to Kandy will get you a finger pointed towards the two notices and "it's on the notice". Since I looked like a monkey staring at a rocket, one person walked out of the booth and came to me to show me the notice no said "oh the one on the left is outdated". There are many things that can improve but you gotta give them points for having the busses running. :)
