Scrabble is a word game in which two to four players score points by forming
words from individual lettered tiles on a game board marked with a 15-by-15 grid.
The words are formed across and down in crossword fashion and must appear in
a standard dictionary.
World English-language Scrabble Players’ Association is the governing body for
the game of scrabble while Sri Lanka Scrabble League is the local governing body
in Sri Lanka.
The Scrabble Club of Royal College was established in 1994 under the patronage
and leadership of Mr.H.D.R.Hemachandra and Missaka Warusawithana
respectively, with the objective of introducing the game of Scrabble to the school.
Improving the English knowledge and vocabulary of the students through scrabble
has been the mission of RCSC.Since its initiation RCSC has done many projects to
popularize the game of scrabble both inside and outside the school. It is one of
the premier Scrabble clubs in Sri Lanka.
Apart from the Sri Lanka Scrabble League, the Royal College Scrabble Club is the
only school’s scrabble association which conduct All Island Scrabble Tournaments
annually. Many Schools in the island are interested in taking part in these
tournaments.

The Inner-School Scrabble Championship organized by the Scrabble Club of Royal College, concluded successfully on the 4th of March at the Edex Building premises.
The tournament consisted of two age-based categories; namely Primary Division & Senior Division, and saw the impressive participation of over 60 players. ... The results of the tournament are as follows:

Royal College scrabble team emerged victorious in the 6th Royal Thomian scrabble encounter which was held today at the St.Thomas' College board room.
Royal College emerged both U15 & U19 Champions at the Ladies College Scrabble Day, an Inter-School Scrabble Tournament organized by Ladies College, which was held on the 25th of June. Spot Prizes were also won by Aabid Ismail & Qays Sangani in the U19 Category, and Janul De Silva in the U15 Category.
Royal College emerged champions(U15) and 1st Runners Up (U19) at the Sri Lanka Schools Scrabble Association Tournament on 22nd of October.
Royal College emerged runners up at the All Island Scrabble Tournament on 24th of September.
The Primary Scrabble Tournament was held successfully at the grade 5 block on 24th of September.
Royal Scrabblers Aabid Ismail, Qays Sangani, Janul de Silva was placed 3rd, 8th and 11th respectively at the World Youth Scrabble Championship which was held from 27th to 29th of August 2016, in Lille, France. Today, the Principal of Royal College, Senior Games Masters along with the teachers in charge congratulated the scabblers in the great endeavour. It is quite obviously the greatest achievement of the Royal College Scrabble Club since its initiation in 1994. Congratulations.
Royal College Scrabble club successfully organized the Royal Scrabbler Inter-School scrabble tournament. With participation of many schools The event was held at the mainhall of the college on the 9th July 2016.
Royal College emerged as champions in both U-15 and U-19 categories, in the Ladies' College Scrabble tournament which was held on 25th of June at the College premises. Royal College U19 were unbeaten throughout the tournament as they beat Trinity College, Musaeus College, Lyceum International School Panadura, St. Thomas' College and Ladies College respectively in the 5 rounds. U15, as well, were unbeaten as they beat Bishops' College, Nalanda College, Musaeus College, Lyceu...m International School Nugegoda, and Musaeus College in their 5 rounds.
