It is a furnished house rented as whole house as well as rooms for reasonable charge.

It's a perfect place to begin with friends and family which fulfils your happiness this River hut is situated opposite to batticaloa lake. And consist of A/C and non A/C rooms and one Sri Lankan authentic room with wooden interior design. Happy to help you 😃

I booked this place on Agoda and had been in touch with the person over WhatsApp. The person confirmed in the morning that a room was reserved for me but when I arrived there around 5:30 PM, I was told that I will be shifted to another "better" hotel as they have to clean the septic tank suddenly at River Hut. Being exhausted by the days journey I accepted. The "better" hotel had no hot water or river/lake view or WiFi although the person reloaded my mobile with 800 MB data.
It's not fair to change like this last minute. Unethical.response / report this review -

Ich habe im River Hut drei Nächte verbracht. Die erste Nacht in einem einfachen Zimmer mit geteiltem Badezimmer im Haupthaus, die anderen Nächte in einem hölzernen Anbau mit eigenem Bad. Das erste Zimmer hatte als zusätzliche Einrichtung einen Schrank, das zweite auch eine Sitzgelegenheit und einen Tisch. Ein Moskitonetz fehlte bei beiden Zimmern. Mir wurde aber als Ersatz ein elektrisches Antimückenmittel gegeben. Das zweite Zimmer war auch geräumiger und hatte einen schönen Blick auf die Lagune. Leider ist es etwas hellhörig und liegt direkt an der Straße. Wenn ein Laster vorbei fährt, wackelt der Anbau auch mal. Nachts ist allerdings kein Verkehr, so dass man dennoch gut schlafen kann. Die Lage ist ein wenig außerhalb vom Stadtzentrum, so dass man unter Umständen ein Tuk Tuk benötigt, um weiter weg zu kommen. Es gibt aber auch Restaurants in Laufnähe. Das Beste an der Unterkunft ist aber die sehr herzliche Eigentümerfamilie. Das Upgrade auf das eigentlich teurere Zimmer war übrigens kostenlos.
