The Bo Tree of the temple is one of the very first 32 saplings of the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura and is said to be planted by the king Devampiyathissa in 3rd century BC. Further it is thought that the area was colorfull (Res) on the planted day.
The image houses located in the temple in addition to the main Buddha Statue, believed to be built by King Walagamba in first century BC.
Further several many other caves located where the Buddhist monks lived.

This is an ancient Buddhist temple which is said to be built by the king Devanpiyathissa. Beautiful Buddha statues carved out of rocks can be seen.

Fantastic historical place. One thing that completely ruined our journey was the road to this place. A gravel road with many spots where a fully loaded japanese car with low ground clearance will have to stop frequently and let the passengers out so that the car doesn't hit the ground. This place is not as famous as Aukana Pilima but if you can make it better do so that you cover it and not miss it.

Very beautiful place with a rock carved Buddha Statue. If you climb to the top of the rock, you can get a nice view of the surrounding area. At the bottom of the rock there is an ancient cave with a reclining Buddha Statue. This area is full of caves, about 99 caves in total.

This temple is much related to awukana temple. The statue of lord Buddha here and the one in awukana are quite similar. It is not usually crowded.Roads are not much good. But if you are interested in exploring, yes, this is a good place in overall.

This is an excellent Buddhist temple as old as the famous Awkana Statute. It is believed that this statute was also built by the same people who built the Awkana Buddha statue.

Travelling to Reswehera is a bit difficult since the road conditions are not very good. Therefore I would recommend Tourists to get a 4-wheel drive from the hotel.

For Local Tourists, my advise is Start visiting the place as often as you visit Anuradhapura, and It will get these Exotic yet Fabulous place to dazzle as good as the pyramids of Egypt.

A Buddha statue very much similar to Awkana stands majestically from the forest covered hillside speaks the skill and craftsmanship of the ancient sculptors of a bygone era.
