    This is the place lord buddha is spended nearly 23 years of his life. This place is so called as "VELUWANARAMAYA" . You can see incredible caves ,stupas and various buildings here. Must visit place for every Buddhist .

    These ruins are situated on a mountain. 900m to the top of the mountain. Entire mountain has ruins laying around within the forest. Looks like it was a huge building complex back in the day. Ancient monks used to meditate in caves in this area.
    Good place to spend your day hiking and exploring the forest.

    Ancient Buddhist Ruins belongs to the era before the Anuradhapura Kingdom. A proud history of 2000years. dont missed it if you vist Ampara

    Biggest ruins place in srilanka after anradhapura and polonnaruwa..normally it will take 6-8 hours to see every ruins and caves..ruins are under rebuit these days..very uncommon place in srilanka you must visit ona time in your lifetime.

    There are lot of runis which are similer to Anuradahapua kingdom. Can reach via 4WD cab nearest to ruins. By foot need to climb about 400 m. Very defficult. Ruins are spread over 1500 Arc area. Ruins are from Kindgom Digamadulla

    25 km from Ampara town via Ampara ~mahaoya highway
    Turn @ Gamunu hewa Army camp. Enter to sub road. 4×WD vehichle can drive abot 4km to destination.
