Spent 3 days (2 nights at the People's Bank Holiday Home - Batticaloa and these are our thoughts.
From the first impressions, it was bit harder to find the venue because the name board was covered with vines and that was the first sign of poor-maintenance.
We were greeted by a gentleman named Davakumar, and later we found-out that he as a temporary caretaker who came down from Kandy on the same day few minutes prior to our visit, because the designated caretaker took an off day.
Kumar showed us to our rooms and sad to say we were really disappointed. Rooms had a really bad and old smell and walls were water damaged. It was barely cleaned and Kumar asked few minutes to prepare the rooms. Since he also came few minutes ago, we happily let him work on it and after few minutes, he prepped the rooms and it was bit nicer.
Rooms were air-conditioned and there were misquote nets for each bed. Some lights were not working and the bathroom condition was sad. Since we booked the place just to sleep in for few hours we buckled up for rough 2 nights.
Kumar did his best to make our stay nice. He was a really well behaved gentleman who greeted us with a scrumptious breakfast.
If you are planning to spend a night at this place, beware of mosquito. No matter what you do, they will attack even when you are just sitting for few minutes. So take precautions.
It was obvious that the place is not managed and maintained properly by the authorities. In the guest's log book, there were many complains regarding the poor condition about the venue. Garden and the house itself needs a huge renovation soon. Because the water damages on walls is really horrible. I hope the relevant authorities will attend to this immediately.
Friendly staff. Lot of mosquitos but mosquito nets available. Batticloa fort within walking distance.

Cool place with a good space
it's a holiday home for the people's bank employees. it should be booked by an employee. compared to other holiday homes it's not that impressive. it's a renovated house converted to a holiday home. there is a caretaker who cooks ect. you have to pay the cook to buy and cooks what ever you need.
