Great place to start the historical journey or Polonnaruwa kingdom. Close the archaeological museum in Polonnaruwa, the palace complex represents the great history that we Sri Lankan's once had.

This is probably the best palace complex in Sri Lanka. There is no any building to compete with this even in present Sri Lanka !

Nice place to start your Polonaruwa excursion as its right near the museum. There's a few cool things to see here including some big bathing pools and the main hall with the lion and columns.

This is the Audience hall of King Nissanka. At day time remember to take an umbrella or hat to protect from sunlight. Also enough water for drink.

Hire a bicycle and local guide and you can see the palace complex in about 2 hours. Easy trip. The roads are flat.

Amazing place, a must see in Sri Lanka. Especially the round Temple with the Buddha's. Bring your socks when the sun is shining to prevent your feet from burning.
