Its hard not to give 5 stars as the view was stunning! Breakfast was delicious. The staff were really nice and arranged a car for us. The room is a bit dated - only a fan and no AC, but there was a mosquito net.
Friendly owner the lady makes nice food
This hotel has excellent views plus the nine arch bridge view is excellent , but food is boor and the cleanness was good
Nice place, clean, beautiful view, hosts very helpfull
Beautiful simply styled rooms and wonderful views, an easy stroll to little Adam's Peak and a nice drink at the 98acres hotel - a tuktuk ride from town. Bathroom didn't have hot water when we stayed, that was a bit annoying, but I trust this is not a regular thing.
The view from the balcony is amazing, and it's the best place to watch the train coming all the way from the far side of the mountain and passing by the nine arch bridge. It is a bit far away from the Ella city centre, the best way is to go by tuk tuk from the city centre, especially if you've got luggage, otherwise, it's about 30 min walk.
Location: we came to Ella by train from Nuwara Eliya. The Nine Arch Lodge (probably named after the Nine Arch Bridge, of which you have a lovely view from the lodge) is a bit outside the center, and best to be reached by tuktuk in 5 min (the location given on Google Maps is correct; don't pay more than LKR 200).
The location outside the city center has it's benefits, as the top of little Adam's peak is just a 45min walk away that can be done before breakfast, so if you get up early, you can see the sunrise from up there.
Room: this was one of the cleanest rooms we've had in Sri Lanka since we've arrived 3 weeks ago. There's hot water, a decent mattress, mosquito nets and a fan (you don't need AC due to the cold climate in Ella). Further, our room had a balcony with table and chairs and an impressive view of the valley with the Nine Arch Bridge, and at night there were many fireflies flying all around. Especially for the low price, this was really good value. Only drawback might be that you'd have to ask the owner about wi-fi in the lower rooms, as you don't get a good enough connection there (in the breakfast area was good connection).
Food: this was the only place we were served real bread for breakfast, instead of the usual toast/sandwich (with omelet, butter & jam, and fresh fruits). You have to pre-order dinner, but then you'll get a freshly cooked, delicious meal for a very good price.
Staff: this is a family-run lodge, and they were all very kind and helpful, so no complaints there.
