Service is good but everything was quite salty. Only ate cooked menu items and the miso soup/tsukemono, but each item had a decidedly salty aftertaste. Pleasant location and facilities.

First off, Nihonbashi is expensive and reservations are a good idea. I am not hugely impressed with their sushi, the rice could use more flavour, but there are certain things that they do very well. If I had to pick one, it would definitely be the pork belly: so tender and full of that sweet teriyaki goodness that it damn well trumps everything else.
Dinner courses are generous too, you get hot and cold appetisers and your mains.
The ambience is great, I love their indoor water features, private dining rooms. Unsurprisingly, a number of Japanese frequent this place.

Came here on a Monday night and the restaurant was empty!! Honestly thought this was a top rated restaurant and fine dining experience but it was average food. The sushi platter was ok- nothing that great and the don buri was also average. I would not consider this to be in the top 50 in Asia! They even offered a 30% discount on the wagyu! If it’s so popular why would they even have the need to sell it like that!!
The miso soup was a far cry from a traditional miso and was horrible. No offence but the fact that there was no Japanese chef in sight at a so called traditional Japanese restaurant was a warning. I think what gets this review a one star is the sake- it was not good and obviously brought in from Japan so cant go wrong!
Overall it’s overrated and I would never even recommend this to anyone. Overpriced and terrible. Goto ministry of crab instead atleast the food the great!

Very good Japanese food at reasonable prices! The tuna sashimi was some of the best I've eaten outside of Tokyo fish market. Don't over order, the portions aren't as small as you would think!

I really wanted to love this place (I love sibling restaurant Ministry of Crab) but the recommended tasting menu was vastly uneven. Umami tomato soup was heavenly. Prawn sashimi pleasant but too light to be memorable. Tempura edamame all texture, no taste. And so on including several following dishes that were vastly over-salted, a first for me in a Japanese restaurant. If you go, stick with fish - that’s what I’ll do next time (and it does deserve a next time)

The pinnacle of Japanese restaurants in Sri Lanka. Nihonbashi offers the best in ambience, selection and service. The food we tried was authentic and excellent. Surprisingly the sushi etc was not that much more expensive than any other Japanese restaurant. If you're interested in fine dining, there are quite a few more expensive dishes on the menu as well. Overall a wonderful experience.

Food is definitely worth it with items you won't find anywhere else in Colombo. What we could expect for the price though is also a nice decor to enjoy the food.
