Superb experience. Child friendly environment with ample parking. Variety of dairy products along with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Good washroom facilities. Only drawback is, no hand washing area near the shop; for that have to go to the washroom.

Good location with a scenic view. Ample car parking and a small animal park to keep the kids occupied. Food is good and served warm, only prob is they didn’t have NLDB milk. Didn’t get a positive response from the dairy shop when I inquired. They aren’t really bothered about the customer service. Guess that can improve and they really should do something about the termite wings hanging around all over the place before the customers arrive. These things shouldn’t be overlooked, perhaps that’s what’s keeping the foreigners at bay from dropping in.

    Melsiripura Farm

Melsiripura farm consisted of four Divisions viz. Medamulla, Ragedara, Wagolla and Walpolayaya was taken over by the National Livestock Development Board during 1976-1977 periods. Melsiripura farm is situated on Kurunegala-Dambulla road approximately 28km from Kurunegala.

    Soil and Climate

The soils of this region belong to Red Yellow Podzolic soils and the reaction is usually moderate to strongly acidic with a tend towards increasing acidity with increasing rainfall. The organic matter and Nitrogen status is medium and increases with elevation. Phosphorus and Potassium status is usually low. In areas where the Parent Rock is rich in potash, the Potassium status is very good. The Calcium and Magnesium supplies in these soils are quite low but this, however, does not seriously affect crops such as rubber. Certain orchard crops and vegetables required the application of these elements. The cation exchange capacity of these soils enables a satisfactory retention of chemical fertilizers even under high rainfall condition. The depth texture and drainage are extremely good. pH of the soil is around an average rainfall of 1600mm. Mean temperature is around 29ºC. Humidity varies from 75% to 80%.
