Raja, the great tusker, which carried the Sacred Relic Casket for more than half a century, is honoured by the Dalada Maligawa by preserving the dead animal’s skin and tusks prepared to look like the tusker when alive. The museum is located in a small building adjacent to the Royal Palace.

This is the elephant that carried the Tooth, a great tusker. It was stuffed and it can be found in the museum. On the walls there are pictures with the elephant and presidents. There's also an elephant tooth in here. You can easily observe the great size and large tusks of the tusker compared with other regular elephants.

This museum is dedicated as an honour to the Noble elephant called "Raaja" who gracefully served the Temple of Tooth Relic for a long time.

The preserved enormous physique is exhibited. The story & information can be received there.

Very well preserved body of Raja Sri Lankan tusker elephant belonged to the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Kandy. Raja participated at the annual Esala procession in Kandy for around 50 years and was the sacred casket bearer of the final Randoli perehera for 37 years.[He was one of the most celebrated elephants in asia during his lifetime
