Matara Train Statin Matara. It is the last railway station of the coastal railway. In the matara station there are very long long train come in this station . In the colambo kotuwa station start the train come to Matara station it pass the Wadhuwa station, kalutara station, Ambalangoda station, Hikkaduwa station, Ratgama station , Galle station, Koggala station and Mirissa stations. Matara train station is very busy station and so many people come here to travail the train. In the train there are class in the passengers. So many tourists use the train come to South Province.

Not too busy when we were there, but the waiting room smelled of urine. For a Tuktuk to Tangalle, try texting/calling Suranga +94 (71) 958 1765. Very nice young lad, who charged us a bout 50% of other Tuktuk drivers in Tangalle. We used him for lots of trips. Very punctual & reliable.

Last station in the costal line yet But Now Railroad is being extended to Beliatta.
Mainly trains is started to Colombo. Also you can catch Kandy & Vavniya train in this station.
you can catch a Jaffna in weekends only.

Parcel service was good. Come early to get your tickets and sit on the land side to get the sea view from Galle - Colombo.

You can get a Kandy train from here but it goes all the way around the coast. No upcountry rail links from the south.

Awaiting extentions to Hambantota and Kataragama - thats exciting.

Although tourism here is more chilled out than other spots down south, the usual taxi hawkers are around. Walk to the main road and get one
