This railway station is cool and calm, not much crowded, limited trains only good option to travel Kandy. This station is one of the end points, usually it take 1 - 1 1/2 hours to travel Kandy. This station is situated Matale town itself. This railway station staff is doing an extraordinary service to the passengers as they have free library at Station for passengers to read while they are waiting for train.

Dead end of Matale railway. Trains are available only for Kandy. This trip is arround two hours. General bus service which using highly congested root also much quicker than this Matale train. So I recommend this method as to enjoy the Sri Lanken train ride.

Cheap way of transportation, good for kids but compartments are not clean. It takes long time to reach Kandy by these trains than buses.

One of the Pictures rail way station in our country. Trains come to matale station and no more extension from here. But it should be developed to connect northern track. Then it will be so much easy and wonderful to travel through central province.
