Maraluwawa Temple is an ancient temple on the top of Andagala rock. This was during 161-131 BC.During King Dutugemunu period.
Andagala means rock of an eel which stretches over 15 kilometres in length. This place is not far from Kurunegala town and car can easily take you up to the top.
During day time the place can extremely hot and be sure you wear a hat and sunglass, but you will have to remove them while entering to the sacred area of the temple

A serene place where one can be at complete peace in mind. A temple by its true sense of the word. I visited the place in an early morning even before the sunrise. The surrounding is peaceful; the views are heavenly. The temple premises is located on a rock formation and surrounded by a thick jungle full of lush greenery. Temple's history goes back to 2nd century BC and the cave shrines paintings and statues belong to the Kandyan Era. Atugala, Aandagala, Dolukanda, Kurunegala Lake are some of the finest views from this place.
