  A peripheral primary health care unit under the Provincial Ministry of Health. Managed by a single Medical Officer (MO) with limited resources and staff. Direct supervision is under the Regional District Health Services (RDHS) Office of Matale. The single MO is responsible and burdened with both the administrative duties and patient care needs.
  Situated in a scenic and naturistic environment adjacent to the Wasgamuwa National Park but the surrounding infrastructure is very much rural so access to the hospital is limited. But it provides the basic health care needs to the villagers and provides good service.
