The temple is surrounded by lagoon in one side. It's a good environment in the temple. It's a very ancient Hindu temple in Eastern Sri Lanka. It's rituals are similar to Kataragama and Mandur Murugan Temple is known as 'Sinna Kathirkam' which means small Kataragama.
It's festival is on August and the temple will be very crowded with people in the festival days. There is separate temple for Lord Murugan's wives Valli and Theivaanai.
