Mahinda college is one of the leading Buddhist school in Sri Lanka which was started by Sir Henry Steel Olcott in 1892 March 1st. Early it was started in Galle fort and then moved to Dawatagaha Watta which located presently. Sir Frank Lee Woodward is one of the Greatest principal in Mahinda College. Sri Lankan National Anthem was written in Mahinda College by Ananda Samarakoon. This is a place which was lead to Sri Lankan freedom fight and visited by Gandi, Neru and many more Indian leaders.They paly annual Cricket Encounter with Richmond College.

Mahinda College is a Buddhist boys' school in Galle, Sri Lanka. The school was established on 1 March 1892 by the Buddhist Theosophical Society led by Colonel Henry Steel Olcott.Today it is a national school, which provides primary and secondary education across 13 grades. Mahinda College is regarded as the leading Buddhist school in Southern Sri Lanka.

I studied at Mahinda college from 1960 to 1972 . I left Sri Lanka then it was Ceylon in I975. Since then I've been living in UK and work as a Electronics Engineer . I've good memories about my school days and I don't think I will ever forget them. Would like to hear from anyone from that era .
