A very good place to have dinner with the view of Sea and to listen to the waves. The crew members was very nice. Food was so amazing specially the Crispy Beef.

We were served by a Chinese staff member he was great. Food was, nice. Peaceful place for a dinner. There was alot of red ants around the tables, some spraying will help.
We didnt like the fact that at the end a local waiter came around n pocketed the tip even before we left the table. It was unprofessional n looked like he was snatching others' tips.

Last night I took my family with a prior reservation.. once reaching the venue no one was bothered to assist us on the reservation at the time of making the reservation itself requested two chairs for kids.. has kept only one it took half an hour for placing the first order and was served after an hour after several inquiries. When requested for food menu it was told that it will take over half to pick the order and yet they didn’t turn over. Once we felt it is wasting out time Wanted to settle the bill and even that took a good half an hour and we walked out with out having the dinner. Both my kids were fallen a sleep and they came home with out their food. My brothers were invited for a dinner out whom are on a holiday and had to get back home with a take away pack . Was a terrible experience and is not recommended to drop in for special moments as they mess it up 😡

Excellent location to dine by the sea. They have a good range of delicacies spread across their menu. Hospitable staff provides a friendly service, but they need to improve on their attentiveness and efficiency in terms of order preparation. The quality of food is excellent, but the portion sizes are too small compared to other restaurants of the same grade. However it's definitely a recommandable place as majority of the attributes are up to the standards.

Most enjoyable if you are looking out for a quiet dinner by the sea. The sight, sound and the breeze of the sea is too hard to miss. Always nice to see a staff member awaiting to greet you as you enter. Friday night was not so busy; thus we noticed a very attentive staff. Three cheers for the one man band who played very soothing music. Food is tasty but the portions are smaller. Be prepared to pay about Rs. 2500-3000 per person. An after dinner stroll on the sandy beach is highly recommended. The overall experience and ambience proved worthwhile though we stumbled upon this place since we found their car park very convenient!

We were walking on the beach and that is when we heard this nice music which drove us in to the Loon Tao. Since it was a Wednesday night, it was not crowded. But there were more people than there was in any other place we saw while walking down the beach.
The ambience was set for a nice romantic dinner with sea breeze, low lit table and light music played by Neenka which wasn't drowning the noise of the waves breaking at the shore; which was very important as it made the difference of reminding us that we are still at a beach restaurant.
Food was impeccably touching all the right places of our taste buds and presentation of food was delicious.
We were lucky enough to meet the owner of Loon Tao and we were so touched by his nobility and his humbleness as he personally hosted us to a extremely satisfying fine dining experience. And I would take this opportunity to thank you again Mr Janaka for the lovely evening and wish you all the success in the world.

One of the leading Chinese seafood restaurants in Colombo. Food and the service is excellent and specially should mention the detail service they provide. Staff was very responsive, there were lot of foreign staff and they were very polite as well. Some may say the price is high. But I would say if you go to any restaurant similar to this, you would the find the same rates. Presentation of the food was nice as well. In the night it is very calm and a one man live performance gives you a chilling feeling. All and all great place to dine out and enjoy.

Good Chinese options. Used to be stella back in the day, not so much now but the food is still decent, which is why I still go despite the high priced menu. Nice ambience. Beach Front. Could be messy on a rainy day. Can get cold too, so go prepared.

I go for the ambience and overall experience. But if I want good authentic Chinese food that's super value for money I'd always choose 88.

Nice atmosphere and clean environment near the beach. Friendly staff and quick service. Their sea food options are great and they have good collection of cocktails and mocktails. Nice for groups and couples. You can have a candle light dinner date.

The ambiance was great. Staff were friendly as well. There's a car park a bit away from the restaurant which is literally on the beach.
Order your food a bit early because in the late hours it gets a bit busy.

This place definitely stands up to its reputation. I recommend coming here for dinner with friends. No need to call ahead because you will find a table. They even gave me a free drink when I asked for no ice but they brought me ice. Nice people encouraged me to drink both drinks anyways :).

Located in Mount Lavinia, Loon Tao was once a great a place. With the best food, service etc. After a few years, the quality of the restaurant has declined.

You will still enjoy every bit of the food that is served, the wait is indeed very long.

Once it took the restaurant approximately an hour to serve us our dinner. Despite this, it is still an enjoyable place.

After all, you can go for a stroll on beach until your food is served!

This place is now totally run-down. It has lost its glamour all together. IT was a fancy restaurant a few years ago with a great atmosphere. But now it is also yet another beach restaurant along the coast. Honestly there are much more better places now in the area. However, the Filipino stewardess did a good job.

I've had food at Loon Tao several times, but the new location of this restaurant is not convenient to park and take kids along. Comparatively bit pricey. Staff seem friendly and I noticed a new team of Thai/Chinese looking girls are employed. One waitress disappeared when one local asked for her. Few chicken pieces taste odd among other pieces so not sure of the health aspects of this place after this instance. Definitely have the Indian Ocean view. We spent SLR 7500/= for (mixed rice + 3 dishes of seafood + veg.) for 2 adults and 2 kids. Little bit of cluttered stuffs at the back of our table made it bit difficult to take a photo.
