Lakegala mountain is situated in Sri Lankaabout 175 kilometres (109 mi) away from the capital Colombo. This mountain is situated in Meemure village.

Lakegala is situated near the Border between Kandy and Matale Districts. There are several access points to Lakegala rock but the safest access road is from Meemure Village. "The Rock of Lanka" is the meaning of "Lakegala" in Sinhala language. The rock is about 1310m high and it is in the Knuckles mountain rangeaka "Dumbara Mitiyawatha".

Superb hiking place in sri lanka. Everyone saying this is the hardest hiking in sri lanka.

We hike to lakegala without a guide.
Also a rainy and windy season (april 2018) its too risk.

Warning.
- dont try to hike this mountain without a guide, its risk for your life.
- dont select a rainy or windy season,
August and september are the good season to hike.
- pls contact the guides(vilagers)
To hike this mountain (you can get the safety equipments from the guides)

Situated in the small village called "Meemure" in kandy. High in bio diversity. One of the best places for hikes in sri lanka. But you should go there with a experienced one and it is highly recomended.

The well-known Lakegala mountain area has got 3 peaks(komalawe gala, meeriyagolla gala, lakegala) itself and the highest one is "Meeriyagolla gala" which is marked as Lakegala peak on the Google maps. It can be reached from Narangamuwa village and not much difficult to climb up.

The mighty steepy peak(higher more than 1080m) which can be seen raised straight in to the sky from mimure village is called as "mimure lake" or Lakegala. It is believed as one of the hardest Ascends in Sri Lanka and almost the deadliest.(several deaths are recorded). One of the two pathways between Mimure & Narangamuwa goes at the base of lakegala and mountain can be reached from both villages.
This range is well bounded with the history of King Rawana it is said that rock broke because of a arrow fired by Rama.(meeriyagolla & komalawe gala were formed off this, as said) Extreme puzzled area of "Rehassa" is contained with the giant rocks which were fallen off the arrow hit.
